The Sit and Stand Stroller, what is it and are they a good choice?
Sit N Stand Stroller Pre & Post Sale Questions
Lets kick off with exactly 'what is a sit and stand stroller'. The name actually originates from Sit and Stand Stroller by Baby Trend whom first introduced the concept of enabling your younger infant to travel upon a traditional stroller seat at the front, whilst the older child sits upon a form of 'jump seat' or if preferred, physically stands on a retractable platform to the rear. Numerous other leading brands adopted the concept and given the clear description of the concept within the name, the term Sit and Stand Stroller become referred to as an industry standard. We have talked about the background to what these strollers are and where they originated but a further good question I frequently hear is; Sit and Stand Strollers - Are They Functional? In my view, yes they are very functional and provide an interesting way to transport your children which in our experiences your kids will love. They are very easy to zip around town or the mall in and take seconds to fold down and as a consequence, are very lightweight. Knowing young children as we do, the fun of travelling in a stroller is not always a given thing which is where the sit n stand stroller comes into its own. Kids love the choice it provides in terms of either standing upon the rear platform and being able to watch the world pass by (and see the ice cream stalls!) or having a rest through sitting on the platform and watching from behind the rear seat. Certainly in our household our sit and stand stroller is very well used primarily because our eldest daughter loves to stand whilst our youngest is seated in the front. This brings me on nicely to an important questions around the sit n stand stroller; Is a 2 year old too young to use a sit n stand stroller?Although not common I have heard this question on a few occasions. Clearly you have to use some common sense around when to allow your toddler to actually stand using the sit and stand platform. In my view, 2 years of age is a little too young to be standing and our youngest daughter whom is just turning age 3 has yet to attempt it. Therefore, use your discretion and how your little ones are only you will know but as a broad rule of thumb I would consider 3 years and up should be suitable. Turning to a far more common question I hear around these sit and stand strollers which is; What kind of stroller should I buy - sit n stand or double stroller? This is an interesting situation given a double stroller will clearly seat your two children
very well but one of the downside's to this is the size, weight and flexibility which you sometimes loose when
choosing a double stroller over that of a sit and stand stroller. The choice is equally balanced on both sides. The double stroller will provide you with greater comfort and greater storage/shopping basket capacity at the cost of portability and weight. |
